This is the Diamond Select ISS Enterprise from the Star Trek Episode: Mirror Mirror. The main reason I decided to destroy (battle damage) this model because it had some sloppy paint splashes and there were glue globs everywhere. This became a test of my paint and decal skills. I used the PNT battle damage decal sheet #2 for the smaller torpedo burns and the larger ones where physical burns on the plastic. I painted in yellow and red in and around the physical damage to simulate internal fires and melted hull. It came out pretty good but like I said this was just a test of my skill at the expense of this ship. Hope you enjoy.
I love reading the Mirror universe novels so this model was based off an alternative story I dreamed up about Spock's failure to overthrow the Empire. This is an alternate ending to the Glass Empire Part 1: "Sic Semper Tyrannis".
"Following the Halkan incident and the death of James T. Kirk, the Enterprise's new Captain, Spock is ordered to return to HQ and debrief the high command about this alternate universe. Several hours later at maximum warp, the Enterprise enters sector 001 and begins her standard orbital approach of Earth. Command orders all senior officers to beam down and give their sworn statements about the incident. Two weeks following the completion of hearing, Starfleet restricts all information about the incident and swear all senior officers to secrecy. Spock, having been influenced by the Prime Universe's James Kirk, begins to carefully execute his take over of the Terran Empire.
Five years pass and the Enterprise, now a training vessel, is headed to complete her final training cruise before she is to be decommission. Spock, now an Admiral, personally overseas this training mission for personal reasons. At the helm, a young Vulcan woman, Ensign Valeris, and in the Command chair, a half Vulcan half Romulan, Ensign Saavik, two of Spock's most valued and favored students. Their final Mission, to engage in simulated war games with the Terran warship ISS Imperator. Valeris, being envious of Spock's favoritism toward Saavik, gives Starfleet full details of Spock's plan to overthrow the Empire prior to disembarking for the training cruise. Having heard word of this, Grand Admiral Decker orders the Imperator, to destroy the Enterprise. As the Enterprise enters the training grounds, the Imperator de-cloaks off her port bow and opens a full spread of torpedo's and phaser fire. With her shields down, the Enterprise takes heavy damage from the barrage. Saavik regains her composure and orders emergency evasive maneuvers. She is then startled to find three bridge crew members dead from overloaded consoles and fallen bulkheads. She can only see one remaining crew member, Valeris, at the Helm station attempting to pilot the Enterprise away from the Imperator. Savvik quickly takes the Navigator station and plots a course into a near by nebula. Suddenly the Enterprise is pounded by several more torpedo hits, disabling attitude control causing the ship to slowly roll. Saavik and Valeris lose their composure and are thrown to the floor. Seconds later, torpedo impacts to the starboard side of the secondary hull renders the ship crippled, and adrift in space.
Admiral Spock, after being trapped in the lower decks of the primary hull, climbs through the Jefferies tubes making his way to the bridge. As he exits and races down a debris clutter hallway, he is halted by the site of Valeris attempting to use the transporter to beam off the Enterprise. Spock sneaks behind her, catching her programming her transport coordinates. Grasping tightly onto her arm, Spock spin's her so they are now face to face. Valeris, in shock, struggles but is unable to escape his grasp. He places his hands on the left side of her face, forcibly mind melding with her. His suspicions of her were validated. As he broke through her mental barrier he learns she is the one responsible for this attack. Probing into her mind deeper, violating her most intimate memories, he sees the vision of the bridge burning, bodies everywhere, fear, pain. Valeris can do nothing but scream as she mentally witnesses her own mind rape. Spock breaks the meld and releases Valeris from the brutal mind meld, her limp body falling to the floor of the as Spock exist the transporter room. Spock quickly rushes to the bridge, stumbling down the hall way as the ship is continuously compromised by torpedo hits. Reaching the bridge, he is now witness to the horror of Valeris's actions. There lies the lifeless bodies of the training crew. Two whose face and bodies are riddled with shrapnel and one crushed by a fallen bulkhead. On the floor beside the navigators station, the body of Saavik, his student, his successor, bloody and broken with a phaser burn through her skull."
I really like the configuration of the one from the old movies. The new shape of the engine mounts and the added torpedo launchers made it damn near perfect. But I just wish they had kept the oiginal engines.
Yeah I think it was the Phase 2 in the movies. After the Enterprise's five year mission was over the ship underwent a major overhaul to test new technologies. Now if the original engines were on that then that would be an awesome ship!
